Dimachaerus vs. Hoplomachus

Using some newly created 3D images, I have my first BatRep with them from a Vassal mod I'm working on for Red Sand, Blue Sky-Heroes of the Arena from Two Hour Wargames.

Gallipo the Dimachaerus  vs. Drusus the Hoplomachus

Turns 5 and 6  Both gladiators stay put and gain back some of the energy they spent in turn 4.

Turn 10  Both gladiators catch their breath and gain a bonus die.

Turn 12  Both gladiators maneuver but find no opportunities, so each catch their breath.

Turn 16 and 17  Both gladiators catch their breath.

Turn 21  Both fighters catch their breath.

Turn 23 and 24  Both fighters are tired, so do nothing but catch their breath.

Turn 27  Both catch their breath.

There were a lot of ties on the "Maneuver" chart which resulted in many "Hold and catch breath" or "Step back and catch breath"...and as this match shows, it's not always a killing blow that can win a contest, but how well Bonus Dice are used and how one can outlast their opponent.

Thanks for stopping by.

Top Down Views

I've made some top-down views for the 6 gladiators for "Red Sand, Blue Sky-Heroes of the Arena", by Two Hour Wargames with a 3D design program I have been trying to learn.  Thought it would be fun to try my hand at creating some nice visuals for Battle Reports for this awesome title by THW.

Trying out a new look...

I've been playing around with a 3D design program and came up with a sample of a Secutor.

If I can learn to manipulate these images, I may try to use these for BatReps for Red Sand, Blue Sky.  What do ya guys think?

Bad News for Me.....

I had a hard drive crash and lost everything I had.  I wasn't able to back anything up so the Vassal Mods for Red Sand, Blue Sky, along with Charioteer and a few other Two Hour Wargame mods I've been working on are gone...Damn it all!!!

So I gotta start all over from scratch.  So there wont be any BatReps for a while I'm afraid.  Sorry to anybody who has been reading these.  Back to the drawing board.

October 106 A.D. 2nd Match

The 2nd match for this month has my murmillo, Kagan with stats of Savvy-4 Strength-3 Speed-3 to go against a rolled up opponent who is a thraex named Porcio, with stats of Savvy-2 Strength-3 Speed-3...bad luck rolls on his low Savvy...I guess you can attribute this to being a very inexperienced or undisciplined fighter, which gives a big advantage to Kagan.  That's good for me as I have already had my 1st match end in a loss.
     So begins the 2nd match...

A great match for Kagan up until the end, where he got into a bit of trouble and was fortunate to have a large shield to block that final blow which could have been dangerous...also fortunate that the thraex was out of energy at the time as well.  Porcio decided at that point that it was all or nothing, since he had many wounds and time seemed to be running out for him as both his arms were almost useless from wounds received from the murmillo.  All in all, I'm happy with the results.  Kagan gets the win and Porcio lives to fight another day.  Fringe of the Empire locales dont have very many deaths in the arena.  But that will change when I get the chance to move my ludis closer to Rome where the rewards are greater, as are the risks and opponents.
Up next, 3rd match for October 106 A.D.
